We hosted Poland's Prime Minister
On 22 November 2021, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited the shipyards of Remontowa Holding capital group. He was welcomed at the company's headquarters by CEO Adam Ruszkowski.
The Distinguished Guest talked to the management of Remontowa Holding and representatives of the Solidarity trade union. Then he visited ORP Albatros - the second of a series of three modern minehunters for the Polish Navy. Finally, he boarded the LNG-powered hybrid ferry Salish Heron, destined for the Canadian shipowner British Columbia Ferries.
Before the PM arrival, both vessels built at Remontowa Shipbuilding entered the neighbouring Remontowa Shiprepair Yard and moored at the quay. Besides them, the Guest saw many ships from all over the world at the quays and docks. For example, the Danish ferry, with wind-assisted propulsion, a Norwegian offshore vessel under conversion for the offshore wind sector and a luxury expedition cruise ship, adapted in Remontowa for navigation in the Arctic regions.
On the ORP Albatros ship, the Polish politician visited the hyperbaric chamber, the Combat Information Centre, the crew quarters, and the bridge. After disembarking from the ship, Mateusz Morawiecki greeted and talked for a while with shipyard workers. Then, he toured the car decks, passenger spaces, the Manoeuvring and Control Centre, and the wheelhouse on the ferry.
Finally, he took part in a media conference onboard the ferry.
- Our shipbuilding and port industry struggled to survive after 89 with the not always well-thought-out transformation. Fortunately, some people have believed in the maritime industry, and in recent years there has been a dynamic development. Many unique competencies have been kept in the shipbuilding industry. I am pleased that we are building a wide range of different ships. We need this industry! - underlined Mateusz Morawiecki.
